Discover queens and crowns

04 October
Our latest image library showcase looks forward to Queen Elizabeth II's Diamond Jubilee in 2012 by exploring the theme of queens and crowns. The National Archives holds much unique and rare material relating to the history of the royal family, from beautiful parchment documents decorated with patriotic symbols to informal photographs. This portrait of a smiling Queen Victoria offers a striking contrast to the more formidable persona familiar to many of us.
See more documents and images in our showcase, and find out how you can purchase images. To find out about licensing images to use commercially, or to suggest topics for future showcases, please email licensing@nationalarchives.gov.uk.
